Preserving some of the most diverse habitats and ecosystems on earth is vitally important, but we also aim to secure this legacy for generations to come, while keeping the integrity of South Africa’s protected areas.

In many South African rural areas, wildlife tourism is the top contributor to the local economy. In almost all cases, the economic activities associated with wildlife far surpass other rural land uses. If neighbouring communities are included in the value chain as partners it creates the opportunity for them to embrace their role as protected area custodians.
